The OncoFirm Platform

One reader. One strip design. A growing menu of antigen and antibody tests...

OncoFirm’s fluorescent lateral-flow platform was built first for cancer antigens such as CEA and PSA. The same strip format, handheld reader and software are designed to carry tests for sexually transmitted and respiratory infections, pregnancy and fertility, and heart, lung and blood conditions.

OncoFirm handheld fluorescence reader showing a test result, next to an OncoFirm test cassette

Design rendering of the OncoFirm handheld reader and test cassette. The reader measures how brightly the test line glows and reports a number.

Sample to result

Three steps, the same for every test

01

Add a small sample

A drop of blood, a little urine, a swab or a stool sample, depending on the test.

02

Insert into the reader

The reader scans the full fluorescence profile and checks that the test ran correctly.

4.2

03

Get a number, logged

A quantitative result in minutes, saved to a traceable record without retyping.

How it works

Four parts that work the same for every test

SAMPLE TEST REFERENCE CONTROL sample flow → reader scans the full strip profile

Every strip carries a fluorescent reference line of known quantity, so each test checks its own calibration.

Stays the same for every new test
  • Reader hardware and optics
  • Strip format and reference line
  • Signal analysis and quality checks
  • Data format and reporting
Changes for each new test
  • The antibody or antigen pair for the new target
  • Its calibration settings

Fluorescent test strip

Antibodies labeled with bright fluorescent reporters capture the target in a small sample.

Built-in reference

A reference line of known fluorescence sits beside the test line, so lot, temperature and handling effects are corrected inside each test.

Handheld reader

The reader records the full fluorescence profile across the strip, not just a single spot, and flags tests that did not run correctly.

Software and data

AI-assisted analysis turns the profile into a numeric result, and cloud-enabled records keep results traceable across sites.

Infectious disease

Infectious disease tests the platform is designed to carry

Rapid infectious disease testing is where lateral flow proved itself. OncoFirm adds a quantitative, self-checking reader and connected data to that format.

Bloodborne and sexually transmitted infections

Blood, serum or swab samples. The STI tests make up the planned inSTIcheck™ line.

HBsAg

Hepatitis B

Surface antigen screening, with a numeric result that can support follow-up testing decisions.

In development

Anti-HCV · HCV core antigen

Hepatitis C

Antibody screening, with a core-antigen format planned to help identify active infection.

In development

HIV-1/2 antibody · p24 antigen

HIV

Rapid screening on the same reader used for the rest of the menu.

Planned

T. pallidum antibody

Syphilis

Rapid antibody screening from a small blood sample.

PlannedinSTIcheck™

C. trachomatis antigen

Chlamydia

Swab-based screening for the most commonly reported bacterial STI in the United States.

PlannedinSTIcheck™

N. gonorrhoeae antigen

Gonorrhea

Swab-based screening, designed to pair with the chlamydia test.

PlannedinSTIcheck™

Respiratory and throat infections

Nasal, throat or urine samples, or a fingerstick for mono.

Influenza A/B antigen

Influenza

Flu A and B read by the instrument instead of by eye, with results logged automatically.

Planned

SARS-CoV-2 antigen

COVID-19

Designed to run alongside the flu test during respiratory season.

Planned

RSV antigen

RSV

Respiratory syncytial virus, a leading concern in young children and older adults.

Planned

Group A Streptococcus antigen

Strep throat

Throat-swab test to help guide antibiotic decisions at the point of care.

Planned

L. pneumophila urinary antigen

Legionella

Urine test for Legionnaires’ disease, a serious form of pneumonia.

Planned

EBV heterophile antibody

Mono

Infectious mononucleosis, caused by the Epstein-Barr virus.

Planned

Stomach and tick-borne infections

Stool or blood samples.

H. pylori stool antigen · antibody

H. pylori

A stomach infection linked to ulcers and to stomach cancer, which ties it to OncoFirm’s cancer focus.

Planned

Borrelia and other tick-borne pathogens

Lyme and tick-borne disease

A multi-pathogen panel read on one strip, aimed at earlier detection.

Planned

Beyond infection

Cancer, pregnancy and fertility, heart, lung and blood

CEA · PSA

Cancer

Quantitative cancer antigen testing, the program the platform was built for.

Lead program

hCG · LH · FSH

Pregnancy and fertility

Pregnancy confirmation and hormone levels that help track ovulation and fertility.

Planned

NT-proBNP · troponin I

Heart

Heart failure monitoring and markers of heart muscle injury.

Planned

C-reactive protein

Inflammation

A general marker of inflammation and infection.

Planned

Procalcitonin · D-dimer

Lung and infection response

Help telling bacterial from viral infection, and a check for suspected blood clots.

Planned

Ferritin

Blood

Iron-deficiency anemia, a common condition that often goes untested.

Planned

Sample types vary by test: blood, serum or plasma, urine, swab or stool.

Experience

Experience with infectious disease rapid tests

Before founding OncoFirm, our CEO, Jonathan Adam Barash, worked at First Diagnostic Corporation on hepatitis B (HBsAg) and hepatitis C rapid tests that were recommended by the U.S. Army Medical Materiel Center–Europe (USAMMCE). OncoFirm brings that field experience to a new generation of quantitative, connected tests.

Development status. The OncoFirm platform and every test described on this page are in development. They have not been cleared or approved by the FDA and are not available for sale. Pictures are design renderings and illustrations, not photographs of finished products.
